Maria
Costello
is
looking for a forward thinking sponsor to support her efforts as a
pioneering woman aiming to succeed in a fast and thrilling sport. A
partnership would repay you and your company with vast publicity and
advertising returns. Maria is an asset to the sport, could she be an asset
to your company by bringing a new awareness of your company to an ever
expanding audience, one that has huge buying power and one that you are
probably not reaching in your current form.
A
simple and relatively small investment will be repaid in a new and unique
manner, by way of a sexy young female motorcycle racer, challenging for
the top in a male dominated sport.
2002
- FASTEST WOMAN EVER AT MANX GRAND PRIX
One
step closer to being the fastest woman in Britain and to getting in the
Guinness Book of Records.
ISLE OF MAN MANX GRAND PRIX - 2002
JUNIOR
AND SENIOR RACES - MARTIN BULLOCK – CUSWORTH BIKES HONDA CBR600
Maria
Costello has officially become the fastest woman at the Manx Grand Prix
and is the overall second fastest woman to have lapped the TT course. Her
fastest lap of 110.25mph was her standing start lap of the Senior race. She
finished the Senior Race in 23rd place collecting her second Silver
Replica award of the week as she was presented with her first by Murray
Walker for her finish of 29th in the Junior race. Maria's sterling
performance meant that she also received the Lesley Anne Trophy awarded to
the lady making the most meritorious performance at this years Manx and
deserved it –she smashed the existing female lap record! Maria
has taken one big step closer to becoming the fastest women to lap
the TT course and with the every increasing support behind her there will
be no stopping her.
ISLE
OF MAN TT RACES - 2002
PRODUCTION 1000 – Avonvale Honda CBR900RR
PRODUCTION 600 – Cusworth Bikes Honda CBR600
An
inspirational return to the Isle of Man saw Maria collect two TT finishers
medals. Placed 49th in the Production 1000 class on her
Avonvale Honda Fireblade (CBR900) with a race average of 106.04mph over a
race distance of 3 laps of the 37.73-mile long course including a standing
start lap and a pit stop. The second medal was for 39th place
in the Production 600 race on her Cusworths Bikes Honda CBR600, which
despite having 40 brake horse power less than her Proddie 1000 bike, with
an average with 106.03mph. Basically she went as fast on the CBR600 as she
did on the CBR900! Her performance was recognised by a Manx Businessman
– Martin Bullock who has supported many racers in both the TT and Manx
GP including the winner of this years Lightweight TT Race - Richard (the
milky bar kid) Quayle and now he wants to see a woman win the Manx GP.
“I have great respect for Maria and I also believe in her ability and
that is why I’m supporting her.” Added Mr Bullock.
2001
Maria
fulfilled her ambition to compete in the European Superstock Championship
on two occasions and riding at night qualifying for the World 24 Hour
Endurance race will remain an experience second only to racing the TT. She
competed at three separate events on three very different motorcycles an
achievement in any rider’s career.
EUROPEAN
SUPERSTOCK CHAMPIONSHIP 2001 - East Belgium Racing Team Yamaha R1
Her
recognition as a minority in this male dominated sport provided her with
many offers and she took two one off rides in the 2001 European Superstock
Championship (a support class at World Superbike meetings). Her outing at
the German round on a Yamaha R1 put her ability, to adjust to a new
motorcycle, to the test. Getting to grips with new handling
characteristics were paramount but additional essentials such as working
with new mechanics that involved bridging a language barrier proved that
Maria could do more than rise to the occasion when encountering completely
new circumstances.
BKM
Honda Racing Team Honda CBR900 Fireblade - 2001
Despite
her ambitions to race Maria always remained dedicated to her job and
maintained a professionalism in her position as press officer for a top
class World Supersport Team – BKM. Her quality of work was recognised as
was her ability as a racer and the team offered her a ride in the final
round of the championship at Imola in Italy. Learning a new circuit with
limited mechanical assistance were to become obstacles that Maria
approached with the aim of always gaining new skills from. Such a steep
learning curve affected the final outcome and the end result was not the
desired one. Remaining positive she relied on her ability to generate vast
amounts of media coverage to repay all her sponsors. This was also an
ideal medium to tell the true story, to enable prospective teams/sponsors
to see her true potential and understand the restrictions that effected
each one off ride. The fact that she competed at such a high level despite
the odds and finished before a World Superbike audience have been enough
to spur the 24 year old on to new goals in 2002.
WORLD
24-HOUR ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP 2001 - Thunderbike Endurance Team Suzuki
GSXR1000
Maria’s
ability to adjust to new challenges saw her qualify for a World 24-Hour
Endurance Championship round at Oschersleben, invited by a German team –
Thunderbike Endurance. The opportunity to ride at such a unique and
prestigious event saw Maria’s return to circuit racing in 2001. Faced
with a brand new venture on an unknown track onboard a Suzuki GSXR1000, a
bike Maria had not had the pleasure to ride before this event, she reached
beyond the expectations of her team. Lapping a fraction slower than the
team’s full time members having the advantage of a season riding the
bike already under their belt. However, as a reserve rider she was denied
the right to participate in the race. However she came away with first
hand experience of World endurance racing, an understanding of the
workings of an endurance team and their expectations. The night practice
was one of the highlights for the petite female. Now she wants to use the
knowledge she gained to secure a ride in the 2002 championship. Her strong
desire, experience and sheer determination to achieve as a team player
gives her additional attributes that can only be an attraction for any
team looking for a rider in the 2002.
